The Right Start Makes the Difference
Start your new puppy on the right path
Bringing a puppy home is one of life’s happiest moments, and it’s also your first chance to set them up for a great future. At Dogg About, our Puppy Enrichment Classes help young dogs build the skills they need to thrive and grow into confident, curious, calm, and well-mannered companions.
Shaping the Future
Why puppy socialization matters
Proper early socialization isn’t just “fun”. It’s a developmental milestone that shapes your puppy’s behavior for life. During the first few months, puppies are uniquely receptive to new experiences. When they’re exposed in positive ways to people, places, sounds, and other pups, they learn that the world is safe and interesting rather than scary or overwhelming. Without this exposure, puppies are more likely to become anxious, fearful, or reactive as adults, which can lead to long-term behavior challenges.
In our classes, puppies get structured, guided exposure to help them learn:
- Confidence in new situations so they are relaxed and curious rather than tentative or fearful
- Ease around different people and animals, reducing the risk of fear-based reactions later on
- Better communication skills with both humans and dogs
- Adaptability to everyday life, from noises and surfaces to play and attention
Our enrichment classes complement basic training by layering social learning with games, exploration, and positive reinforcement, all in a safe, supportive group setting.
Because the First Steps Matter
Classes Tailored To Your Puppy
We know each puppy is unique, which is why our enrichment classes are tailored to each dog and their individual needs. Each session is thoughtfully structured to help puppies:
- Interact appropriately with other puppies under close supervision
- Engage with new environments and stimuli
- Practice focus and manners in real-world scenarios
- Build healthy play habits and communication skills
- Receive guided reinforcement from experienced instructors
These classes are as much about strengthening the bond between you and your pup as they are about social growth. With every session, confidence blossoms and unwanted behaviours are less likely to take root.
What You Need to Know
Class requirements
To ensure a safe, healthy environment for all puppies in our programs, the following requirements must be met before acceptance:
Vaccinations and Preventative Care
Your puppy’s healthcare must be up to date before joining classes, including:
- Core puppy vaccinations, administered on the recommended schedule by your veterinarian
- Parasite prevention, including deworming and flea and tick prevention from March until the weather consistently remains below 0 degrees
This helps protect your puppy, other dogs in the class, and the overall learning environment.
Commitment to Spay or Neuter
While puppies obviously cannot be spayed or neutered before joining classes, families must have a plan to spay or neuter their puppy at the appropriate age, following veterinary guidance. This supports long-term health and responsible dog ownership.
